Sony Reader Wi-Fi announced

Sony has just announced their latest entry into the world of e-book readers, what with the Sony Reader Wi-Fi – and if you are a natural fan of model numbers, you can always call it the PRS-T1. This is touted to be the lightest touch screen 6″ eReader device in the market and to date, where it claims to deliver the most natural and immersive reading experience yet for book lovers in a digital format, of course.
The new Reader Wi-Fi will continue where last year’s line left off, where it is smaller and lighter now without sacrificing on performance as new and enhanced features have been incorporated. Tipping the scales at less than 6 ounces, this particular Sony Reader Wi-Fi will come with a 6″ E-Ink Pearl V220 touch screen display, where it is far smaller than your average paperback book so that it can fit into a bag or pocket in a jiffy. To conform to Sony’s signature device releases, this one too, will come in more than one color – black, red or white.

Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber

Hasbro, who apparently owns the rights to all Star Wars toys, sent me the Ultimate FX Lightsaber to try out. As someone who has loved Star Wars since the first time I saw it in kindergarten, I was happy to try out any replica of a lightsaber.
I will have to admit that the Ultimate FX Lightsaber is about as close to a real lightsaber as possible. It may not cut through steel, but it does light from the hilt up, and has all the mesmerizing sound effects.
The ignition sound is the same as the one from the movie, and if you wave it, you’ll hear the whirring sound as well. If you strike something with the hard plastic blade, it will make a noise, but only the noise of hitting another lightsaber. It can’t make the authentic “lightsaber cutting” noise, but I’m glad that it can’t cut anything. After all, I must have brushed up against several things with the plastic blade, and that includes my shoulder. Now I understand why lightsabers are only fictional.

Sony unveils HMZ-T1 head-mounted 3D visor

I wish that I was at IFA right now, as Sony is making truckloads of announcements about their new products.
One of them is HMZ-T1, a head-mounted wearable 3D display that promises to create an experience of watching 3D or 2D pictures on a movie theater-like virtual screen that is 750-inches on its diagonal.
That is quite a boast, and I know that most wearable video glasses from other companies say that they can reproduce the experience of a normal big-screen TV.
